Position Requirements:
Graduate of an AMA approved program for Respiratory Care.

This position will need to recognize needs and behaviors of a variety of age groups of patients treated, i.e., understand child growth and development normal patterns of adolescent behavior and look for signs of normal aging.
Prior experience with various age groups is preferred.
Strong interpersonal, clinical, problem solving, team building, customer service, and communication skills

Must work well under stressful situations.
Registered Therapist by the
NBRC Credentialing Board.
Current licensure in the State of Illinois as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.

Current NRP and PALS certification

Ability to obtain Neonatal/Pediatric Specialist (NPS) credential within 2 year of hire.

Ability to work weekends and holidays.
Able to maintain 'on~call' status with 30 minute arrival response time.
Able to push heavy equipment throughout hospital.

The RCP needs to recognize the needs and behaviors of a variety of age groups of patients treated. Prior experience with various patient age groups is preferred.

Frequent, medium intensity lifting.
Frequent lifting and positioning of patients.

If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case~by~case basis.

The Children's Hospital Respiratory Care Practitioner will perform the specific duties and responsibilities outlined below as assigned. Under physician direction, the practitioner will administer respiratory care services to patients in the Children's Hospital.
Assume leadership roles in educational, quality assurance, research and clinical activities in order to enhance, support and drive the overall department operations.

Provision of all job duties as listed in the Pediatric Respiratory Care Practitioner ~ CRT job description.
Provision of advanced and/or research respiratory care procedures
Provision of Charge RCP duties
Act as a role model for department staff members
Assist management team in education programs.
Assist management team in overall quality assurance activities.
