JOB SUMMARY:

Purpose:
Resolves a variety of difficult customer concerns in a fast pace environment. To provide efficient, effective, quality financial customer service resolution to Advocate Medical Group patients, AMG sites of care, insurance companies, attorney's and other financial departments within the Advocate system. Addresses previously processed claims and files corrected claims for appeal. Educates and communicates customer related billing issues to AMG financial areas for system resolution including coding, credentialing, contracting, AR and billing.

Accountabilities:

  • Answering 80~100 calls daily while maintaining the ability to resolve and process all concerns.
  • Reporting, special projects and general duties.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5 years healthcare business related experience including 2 years customer service telephone experience.
  • 3~4 years utilizing computer applications in a professional setting.
  • Experience with difficult, irate callers.
  • Experience in a high volume, fast paced environment with the ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • High volume Customer Service in a non-medical setting.
  • Coding and Medical terminology knowledge a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills are required as well as outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Experience in personal computer applications.
  • Knowledge in spreadsheet applications a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize assignments.
  • To be able to focus 8 hours a day on the phones.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
