Position Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited school.
  • Eligible for licensure to practice in Illinois as a OTR/L
  • Current BLS Certification
  • Minimum 2 years of pertinent clinical experience
  • Maintains continuing education requirements as mandated by professional standards
  • Successful experience with supervising senior level student and/or mentoring new staff/peers
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Independence with providing advanced level of clinical skills and expertise
  • Recognizes needs and behaviors of specific age groups of patients treated.
  • May be exposed to hazardous materials and life~threatening diseases
  • Direct contact with chemicals and body fluids
  • Ability to assist, escort, transfer, and respond to patient needs for extended periods of time.
  • Ambulating with patients over a variety of surfaces with and without assistive devices
  • Required to work on weekends, holidays, and/or early evening hours as assigned, based on department guidelines. Off campus locations as assigned.
  • This requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 08/01/2014. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case~by~case basis.


Purpose:
Provides direct occupational therapy services to patients of all ages, birth to adolescent, who are referred to the department. Selects appropriate evaluation procedures and develops individualized treatment programs to restore or maximize each patient's functional skills. A therapist II is responsible for a complex patient caseload. Role of Therapist II includes teaching, mentoring and committee responsibilities. Serves as a clinical resource to staff, and assists the coordinator in the daily operations of the department as assigned.

Accountabilities:
Responsible for all principal accountabilities of Occupational Therapist
Participation in Rehab Services growth and operations.
Responsible for staying abreast of clinical and operational developments.
Assumes other related responsibilities as assigned.
Participation in educational / mentoring activities with OT students, medical students, peers, Hospital staff and / or the community.
