  • Advocate Lutheran General Hospital - Park Ridge, IL
  • Full Time - 40 hours/week
  • Day Shift - Monday through Friday 0700-3:30 or 7:30-4. Weekends and holidays are on a rotational basis


Position Requirements:
Associates degree in Occupational Therapy

Illinois state licensure

Current AOTA registration
Passes AOTA certification exam for COTA's.
Six months Level II fieldwork
Recognizes needs and behaviors of specific age groups of patients treated.
Good communication skills.
Excellent knowledge of diagnostic and treatment tools for basic patients.
May be exposed to hazardous materials and life~threatening diseases
Direct contact with body fluids
Pushing, pulling, lifting, transferring patients.
Ability to assist, escort, transfer, and respond to patient needs for extended periods of time.
Ambulating with patients over a variety of surfaces with and without assistive devices
Weekends, early evening hour and holidays
Off campus locations
This requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 08/01/2014. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case~by~case basis.

To provide Occupational Therapy skills/experience to patients/clients with physical disabilities. These services include structured assessment, treatment , program planning and implementation, related documentation and communication. Emphasis in assuming a major project or committee responsibilities.

Responsible for all principal accountabilities of an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
Participation in Rehab Services growth and operations
Assumes other related responsibilities as assigned
Participation in ongoing process improvement, quality assurance, and safety programs.
Participation in educational / mentoring activities with COTA students, volunteers, peers, Hospital staff and / or the community
