Position Requirements:

  • High school diploma.
  • CNA or Nursing Student with first clinical completed or Paramedic or LPN with current IL license.
  • One year related experience.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English. Good communications skills.
  • Courteous and professional interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient computer skills. CPR Certified Ability to demonstrate a commitment to patient~focused care.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with established time constraints and in difficult situations.
  • May be exposed to hazardous materials and life~threatening diseases.
  • Hours may vary due to patient census.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies as directed.
  • Ability to perform lifting/transfer activities related to patients (up to 50 lbs. may be required).
  • Ability to work designated shifts including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to transport objects from one location to another.
  • This position needs to recognize needs and behaviors of specific age groups of patient treated.
  • Ability to successfully complete hospital based training for EMR.
  • May perform other duties as assigned by the Charge Nurse.

If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case~by~case basis.

To provide quality care to obstetrical patients in a manner which is patient focused, technically appropriate, and cost effective. The OB Tech works under the supervision of the Registered Nurse in accordance with accepted standards of practice to provide basic nursing care to patients in a team environment. The OB Tech assists in providing basic nursing care to patients, performs as a scrub technician for surgical procedures performed in Labor and Delivery, and provides cleaning and clerical support as needed.

Contributes to the patient plan of care through the documentation and/or communication of patient needs, problems, and outcomes to other health care providers.
Assists in maintenance of the unit when needed in the Delivery Room Associate role.
The OB Tech provides general patient care duties that are specific to the patient population served, under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
The OB Tech is responsible for establishing and maintaining a sterile field, a safe patient care environment, and appropriate supplies/equipment as required for the operative procedure.
Provides patients, families, physicians, and associates with appropriate services to meet their needs to assist the team in achieving success with customer satisfaction goals.
Participates in the Admission/Transfer/Discharge process for patients under the guidance of the Registered Nurse or designee.
Performs tasks related to maintaining the integrity of patient care standards and efficient unit operations.
Provides clerical support in the role of Unit Information Secretary as needed.
