Position Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent 
  • 6 years of experience.
  • Purchasing experience in a healthcare field or related environment
  • Experience in materials handling or three years relevant clinical experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience.

Purpose:
Responsible for demonstrating leadership and providing efficient processes for supply/equipment acquisition, inventory, and operational budget monitoring for Surgical Services, including the complete case cart process. The incumbent is responsible for the cost-effective management of materials used within the clinical peri-operative areas of:

  • Main Operative Rooms (17)
  • Post Anesthesia Care Unit
  • Anesthesia
  • Peri-Operative Care Unit
  • Ambulatory Surgery Center (7 ORs)


Accountabilities:

  1. Responsible for the development, implementation, coordination, and monitoring of processes and procedures, supply~equipment evaluation, and acquisitions for Surgical Services.
  2. Responsible for providing monthly and annual report on product acquisitions, deletion, and corresponding budgetary changes.
  3. Works in collaboration with Clinical Manager, Business Manager, Support Staff, Assistant Clinical Managers, Surgical Specialists, and Physicians in providing Materials Management services.
  4. Collaborates with Director of Surgical Services to develop a strategic plan and directions for Surgical Services Materials Management. Utilizes QI techniques and communicates plan to physicians, managers, and staff.
  5. Responsible for the selection, development, evaluation and maintenance of staff.
  6. Utilizes guest relations techniques with members of the healthcare team and sales representatives. Coordinates all sales representatives' activities with Surgical Services.
  7. Responsible for the development, implementation, coordination, and monitoring of processes and procedures, supply~equipment evaluation, and acquisitions for Surgical Services.
