The Clinical Research Manager, Neurosciences and Other Specialties, is responsible for managing the research program and research operations associated with the conduct of clinical trials across a variety of studies and therapeutic areas within the Advocate Aurora Research Institute (IL).  Areas of focus include: neuro-endovascular and neurosurgical stroke trials, Alzheimer’s research, COVID-19 clinical trials, and other emerging specialty areas.  This leader manages research staff, including research coordinators, regulatory coordinators, research assistants, volunteers, interns, and administrative coordinators. 

The Clinical Research Manager is responsible for the overall operational activities and for the implementation and conduct of clinical trials activities (for these purposes, this leader will oversee research across multiple sites within the Advocate system, including primarily Advocate Lutheran General Hospital (Park Ridge, IL),  Advocate Christ Medical Center (Oak Lawn, IL) and Advocate Illinois Masonic (Chicago, IL).  

 The Manager directs, supervises and evaluates work activities of the team of research associates and collaborates with investigators and research teams to develop, conduct and disseminate clinical research activities. The Manager works with a variety of internal and external customers and supports the Director of Research in the development of new approaches, methodologies and metrics to improve efficiency and effectiveness of organizational strategic outcomes for clinical and translational research. Responsibilities include overseeing research operations communicating with key research areas and cooperating departments (e.g., IRB, Finance, Risk, Legal, Research Compliance, AHC Foundation) managing area cost center and research funds assisting investigators, research teams, and research staff and managing and evaluating educational initiatives within the center. This individual is also responsible for supervising research coordinators and research assistants, volunteers and interns, and training new and existing investigators and research staff, and conducts performance reviews. The Manager helps ensure the regulatory compliance of the research center with Good Clinical Practice and International Conference on Harmonization Guidelines, FDA Guidance, Institutional and departmental research guidelines (e.g., IRB, research compliance office and AHC policies and standard operating procedures), and federal, state, and local agencies as well as any requirements stipulated by the study sponsor. The Manager ensures confidentiality and compliance are maintained at all times.




  • Bachelors degree required
  • 6~8 years of relevant experience in the field of research as a coordinator, administrator and/or investigator
  • 3~5 years management experience leading diverse teams
  • Knowledgeable of pertinent research federal and state regulatory guidelines
  • Demonstrated track record in managing clinical trials research
  • Experience in conducting individual and small group education and training
  • Experience in budgeting and negotiation and understanding of contracting language
  • Demonstrated track record in managing research projects and funds from foundations, corporations and government sources
  • Knowledge of Good Clinical Practices, International Conference on Harmonization Guidelines, FDA Guidance
  • Strong knowledge of clinical trials and other types of clinical and translational research
