Position Requirements:

Position will focus on Ventilator and Tracheostomy Education
Graduate of an AMA approved
program for Respiratory Care
Current license in the State of
Illinois as a Respiratory Care
3~5 years teaching experience
3~5 years supervisory or lead
3~5 years neonatal/pediatric respiratory care experience
Bachelor's degree required, willing to obtain Master's degree
Strong interpersonal,
clinical, and problem~
solving skills which
are critical to the 'expert” role of this position, maintaining the
standard of practice and inter~
action with hospital manage~
ment staff.
Effective education and facilitation skills possesses a professional level of written and verbal communication skills
Must be able to support and

Basic computer knowledge, especially in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Registered Respiratory
Therapist by the NBRC
Credentialing Board
Willing to prepare for and obtain Neonatal~Pediatric Specialist (NPS) credential
BLS provider
PALS certified within 6 months of hire
NRP certified within 6 months of hire
Candidate must be willing to participate in outside professional
activities to include educational and networking activities.
Candidate may come in contact with potentially hazardous
situations such as administration of specific care giver precaution
medications (Ribovirin/Pentimadine) and may be exposed to
specific contagious disease states as well as blood and body
The candidate must be willing to perform the job function on
off~shift hours as well as attend outside educational activities,
participate in outside professional activities and maintain a high
level of current standard of care practices.

This position will need to recognize needs and behaviors of a
variety of age groups of patients treated, i.e.: understand child
growth and development, normal patterns of adolescent behavior
and look for signs of normal aging prior experience with various
age groups is required.
The candidate will have >10 percent patient contact.

Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case~by~case basis.

To serve within the role of 'Clinical Expert”, in order to drive and support the practice of
Respiratory Care within the hospital by developing, planning, coordinating and
facilitating all respiratory and cross~trained educational activities in order to provide the
highest quality care trained professional and competent associate in the most cost
effective manner. To also include the coordination of student and associate clinical
activities, by providing direction and guidance to students and associate and enhancing
the educational experience.
