Under minimal supervision performs incoming inspection, equipment repair, equipment calibration, and preventive maintenance of specialized medical imaging equipment including but not limited to CT, PET/CT, MRI, Nuclear Medicine cameras, PACS, Vascular/Cath labs, and linear accelerators/radiation treatment planning.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in electronics, computer science or biomedical equipment technology.
  • Five (5) years of experience working on multiple classes of medical imaging equipment with demonstrated knowledge of corrective and scheduled maintenance practices required.
  • Three (3) years working experience and formal training from the equipment manufacturer or a third~party technical training organization for specific make/model imaging devices currently in use within the Advocate Healthcare system for one or more of the following specialized classes of medical imaging equipment: CT, PET/CT, MRI, Nuclear Medicine cameras, PACS, and Vascular and/or special procedure labs. Good communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively use a computer to document work.
  • Ability to run standard reports in the computerized maintenance management system.
  • Effectively use the company standard e~mail system.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft® Office products.
  • Ability to use test equipment consistent with the maintenance, testing and calibration of medical imaging equipment.
  • Using specialized test equipment and/or tools can analyze electronic, electromechanical, and mechanical equipment to isolate, test, and replace defective parts/components.
  • Ability to perform scheduled and corrective maintenance on a wide variety of medical imaging devices
  • Manual dexterity, hand~to~eye coordination, and normal color vision. Eligibility for International Certification Commission certification as a Radiology Equipment Specialist (CRES). Potential stressfully environment.
  • Knowledge of safety precautions when servicing high voltage and working with ionizing radiation.
  • Potential exposure to blood and air borne pathogens, and bodily fluids.
  • Ability to do very heavy lifting: up to 75 pounds occasionally and/or in excess of 50 pounds frequently and/or in excess of 20 pounds constantly.
  • Frequent travel between Advocate facilities
  • Work off~hours or evenings and participate in on~call rotation.
