Manages associate performance, daily departmental resource allocation Emergency Department registration areas, maintaining excellent associate satisfaction. Responsible for the implementation, performance and quality assurance of patient registration processes.

Ensures that the functions of insurance verification, and financial clearance are performed according to established standards. Ensures compliance with all State and Federal regulations as well as internal hospital policies and procedures governing the patient access processes of the Patient Access Department.

Maintains the highest standards of customer services excellence to ensure that staff performs all duties according to established customer service standards and that processes are developed to address overall or specific customer needs.


Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required.
  • 3-4 years experience in an emergency registration environment
  • 3-4 years experience with regulatory agencies and regulations (IDPH, Medicare, Medicaid, Accrediting Organization, etc.)
  • including experience in a leadership role such as leading projects, special events, training programs, etc.
  • Ability to organize in a fast-paced environment with high level of empathy, tact and poise.
  • Excellent human relation, organizational and project management skills.
  • 5+ years knowledge of general office equipment (computer equipment printer, optical imaging, photocopier, calculator, multi-line telephone, etc.)
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Excellent customer service skills


  1. Organize, monitor and direct the daily activities of the Emergency Department registration staff to perform registration through accurate and complete data collection within established timeframes.
  2. Supervises associates performance, daily departmental resource allocation and work schedules to efficiently support operations within the Patient Access areas, while maintaining excellent associate satisfaction.
  3. Sponsors and directs quality assurance activities, training and educational goals as defined by site management and/or Advocate Health System, to ensure quality, consistency, and compliance are performed by patient access associates.
  4. Participates in process improvements and the development and implementation of revenue cycle work plans for finance division and Patient Access Department.
  5. Maintains effective communication and working relationships between the Patient Access Department, physician offices, nursing, ancillary hospital departments, patients, third party payers, Patient Accounts, HIM, Advocate Health Centers, Christ PHO and Information Systems.
