Position Requirements:
Graduate of an AMA accredited educational program for Respiratory Care. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Effective organizational, interpersonal and problem solving skills. Effective communication skills: RCP must be able to communicate to patents of all ages from birth to adult, their family/guardians, and other members of the healthcare team. Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required:
Respiratory Care Practitioner license issued by the state of Illinois and
Preferred Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or at minimum Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC), and complete and maintain:
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.

Must be able to lift 35 lb. without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other team member, when available.

Must be able to push/pull while utilizing 30 pounds of force occasionally for long distances.

Must demonstrate stand~pivot transfer from bed to chair.

Must perform sliding transfer of 150 lb person on a sheet across 2 feet with a second person.

Must utilize safe body mechanics at all times.

Purpose:
To evaluate, provide, and monitor routine and advanced pediatric respiratory care procedures and to ensure that appropriate and effective respiratory care is provided according to the department scope of service. The registered respiratory therapist (RRT) and certified respiratory therapist (CRT) must be able to adapt and comply to policies and procedures for a variety of different service areas, perform tasks and/or special duties as required by assignment and maintain safe performance standards and behaviors of excellence at all times.
