  • Graduate of an AMA approved program for Respiratory Care.
  • 1 year experience in Adult and/or Pediatric Critical Care or an equivalent combination of education and training.
  • Current license in the State of Illinois as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
  • Registered Therapist by the NBRC Credentialing Board.

  • Willing to prepare for and become PALS/NRP life  support.

  • Willing to obtain Neonatal/Pediatric Specialty within 2 years of Employment.

  • Excellent stress~management skills, extremely critical that the incumbent be able to work under stressful situations and manage these situations well.

  • The candidate must be willing to change work hours within the assigned shift, change assigned shift, orientate to and work in all hospital areas, and integrate back into routine operations if special programs are dissolved based on the needs of the hospital, department, work volume and/or patient census.
  • The candidate must be willing to attend all mandatory educational activities, competencies, and staff meetings, perform basic and intensive respiratory care procedures, act as a resource for physician, nursing and ancillary personnel in regard to respiratory care practices and maintain a current up~to~date standards of respiratory care practice.
  • The candidate must be willing to orientate/train for procedures non~specific to traditional respiratory care i.e.: EKG, and basic patient care procedures as dictated by the manager with proper training and competencies. 
  • The candidate must be willing to demonstrate their prompt/timely individual attention and engagement in department activities, communications (i.e.: email, mailbox distributed material) staff meeting(s), education, computer based training, maintaining education file and required certifications, credentials, and license.
  • This position will need to recognize needs and behaviors of a variety of age groups of patients treated, i.e., understand child growth and development, normal patterns of adolescent behavior and look for signs of normal aging prior experience with various age groups is preferred.
