Position Requirements:
1~ 2 years previous computer experience required with a variety of programs and databases
Knowledge of medical terminology
Certified Nurse Assistant or completed 1 nursing school clinical rotation
High School diploma
Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
Proficient computer skills
Proficient keyboarding skills
Courteous and professional interpersonal skills.
CPR Certification within first month after hire date Ability to successfully complete hospital~based training for Clerical Associate and CareConnection/CPOE
Ability to rotate shifts to provide coverage
Willing to be called off, based on unit demands
Exposure to various contagious disease, radiation, chemicals, caustic materials, electrical equipment and hazards associated with their use.
This position will need to recognize needs and behaviors of a variety of age groups of patients treated, i.e. understand child growth and development, normal patterns of adolescent behavior and look for signs of normal aging. Prior experience with various age groups is preferred(i.e., understand growth and development).
Ability to successfully complete hospital~based training for Patient Care Assistants.
Demands which require walking, standing, bending, and lifting throughout the work day.
Ability to lift 30 lbs. or more may be required.

If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case~by~case basis.

Purpose:
To provide quality care to patients in a manner which is patient focused, technically appropriate and cost effective. The Patient Care Information Associate works under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse in accordance with accepted standards of practice, within the guidelines of the Illinois Nursing Practice Act an the Mission and Philosophy of EHS. The Patient Care Information Associate also serves to facilitate unit operations through accurate oversight and effective management of the patients' medical records (electronic and non~electronic), and coordination of services and supplies.
The Patient Care Information Associate works in collaboration with the RN as a partner in the care, treatment and education of patients. The Patient Care Information Associate recognizes the needs and behaviors of patients of various age groups and provides care in a manner that is age appropriate. The Patient Care Information Associate strives for patient~centered care which assures the patient is treated holistically with dignity and respect.
Performs activities related to the utilization, maintenance and support of the clinical electronic medical record (CareConnection/CPOE). Provides education and trouble~shooting support to professional clinical users (i.e., physicians, nurses and other clinical and ancillary support members of the healthcare team) to promote efficiency and excellence in the delivery of quality patient care. Recommends plans of action, revisions to policies and procedures and works with all members of the patient care team to optimize the utilization of all aspects of the medical record. Delivers timely and high quality resolution of issues presented by fellow team members. Escalates issues and requests for information to appropriate parties. Serves as healthcare representative for the team when in direct contact with patients, families and other external contacts.
