Position Requirements:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Nursing required.
  • If BSN then Masters in Nursing, Business, Health Administration or related field required
  • 3 years of progressive leadership experience
  • Current RN licensure in the State of Illinois.
  • Ability to staff in pre/post or PACU areas
  • Basic Life Support. See attached special job characteristics.


Purpose:
Leadership for all clinical processes, their patient outcomes and employee education within the perianesthesia environment which includes Pre/Post and Post Anesthesia Care Unit.

Accountability for the assessment, design and evaluation of patient care outcomes on a twenty~four hour basis.

Facilitation of continuous quality, improvement in clinical outcomes.

Leading, coaching, mentoring and modeling clinical practice behaviors that advance nursing practice and support ancillary staff performance through delegation and follow through.

Ongoing design and revision of the patient care delivery system supportive of continuity and quality patient outcomes for patients and families with perioperative needs as performed by licensed staff and delegated by licensed staff to non~licensed personnel (e.g., inclusive of the nursing process.)

Provision and maintenance of a safe and efficient clinical work environment for all staff within the department.

Collaboration with regard to supply needs based on clinical processes.

Support of staffing plans and patterns consistent with revenue/expense budget in planning aspects of clinical continuity and desired clinical outcomes.

Development and incorporation of Performance Improvement projects within all of perianesthesia environment


Accountabilities:

  1. Achievement of synergistic outcomes through a team approach to the management of perianesthesia services
  2. Ownership of processes affecting clinical continuity, patient care outcomes, and staff education within and across all clinical surgical patient care areas.
  3. Promotion of own professional development within the areas of leadership, teamwork, clinical continuity and outcomes based on education, information and feedback.
