Position Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in related field required
  • 4 or more years prior healthcare registration, scheduling and/or billing experience.
  • 3 or more years of related management or supervisory experience 
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid rules and regulations
  • Knowledge of regulatory agency requirements ~ IDPA, IDPH, CMS, etc
  • Ability to proficiently interact with the public, physicians and hospital staff.
  • Ability to function in a fast~paced environment with a high level of empathy, tact and poise.
  • Extensive Knowledge of insurance and managed care regulations
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills
  • Effective Analytical  and customer service skills


Purpose:
Provides direction, management and collaboration for the Outpatient Registration within the hospital as well as Admitting and Financial Counseling in alignment with the overall mission of the Shared Revenue Cycle Organization (SRCO) and Advocate Health Care. Deploy and oversees standards, systems, policies, procedures, and operational performance. Provides key insights and recommendations to the Hospital Director of Patient Access related to Patient Access and facility operations. Contributes to collaboration, integration, and performance improvement activities with revenue cycle and clinical operations managers to achieve strategic, financial, and operational performance goals.

The specific responsibilities for the Outpatient Areas and Offsite Outpatient Areas insurance verification, registration and insurance/financial clearance confirmation . Assists in the design and implements effective patient access processes to effectively obtain and secure financial sponsorship for each patient in order to improve cash flow and income statement improvement from revenue cycle operations. Collaboratively works and assists the Patient Access Department Director provide programs and services to patients and to at the direction of that leader represent the SRCO in collaborative meetings with facility staff other hospital leadership and departments on issues related to the overall performance of the facility's revenue cycle.

Provides measurable positive performance within the scope of the Prearrival Unit in service to the SRCO as well as Advocate hospitals, patients, physicians and associates.


Accountabilities:

  1. Manages the registration functions related to Outpatient Registration within the Patient Access Department in order to achieve SRCO goals and objectives. Performs ongoing assessment of the unit functional responsibility areas to improve cash flow and income statement benefit from revenue cycle operations. Oversees the managment of the work unit resources within the capital and operating budgets to effectively meet SRCO goals and objectives.
  2. Monitor work processes to ensure that best practices are deployed to enhanced customer services, leveraged use of technology. Ensure that standard processes as identified by the SRCO are effectively implemented at the Pre Arrival Unit level in an effort to achieve the goals of maximized cash flow and decreased cost of collections.
