Purpose:

  • Leadership for all clinical processes, their patient outcomes and employee education within Outpatient Surgery.
  • Accountability for the assessment, design and evaluation of patient care outcomes on a twenty-four hour basis.
  • Facilitation of continuous quality, improvement in clinical outcomes.
  • Leading, coaching, mentoring and modeling clinical practice behaviors that advance nursing practice and support ancillary staff performance through delegation and follow through.
  • Ongoing design and revision of the patient care delivery system supportive of continuity and quality patient outcomes for patients and families with perioperative needs as performed by licensed staff and delegated by licensed staff to non-licensed personnel (e.g., inclusive of the nursing process.)
  • Cooperation with requirements of the Sterile Processing Department related to clinical practice issues in collaboration with Sterile Processing Manager.
  • Provision and maintenance of a safe and efficient clinical work environment for all staff within the department.
  • Collaboration with regard to planning equipment and supply needs based on clinical processes.
  • Support of staffing plans and patterns consistent with revenue/expense budget in planning aspects of clinical continuity and desired clinical outcomes.
  • Development and incorporation of Performance Improvement projects within all of surgical service outpatient departments.


 

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Nursing, Masters Degree preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of O.R. experience as staff
  • 2 years of supervisory experience in surgical services
  • Ability to staff in operating room for coverage
  • Current RN licensure in the State of Illinois.
  • Basic Life Support. See attached special job characteristics.
  • Ability to communicate with the medical staff and other people of diverse backgrounds.
  • Strength and dexterity to move patients, handle equipment and to move quickly from clinical unit to clinical unit to fulfill job responsibilities.
  • Emotional resiliency and flexibility to deal with organizational changes and changing environments and stressful situations.

  2. Ownership of processes affecting clinical continuity, patient care outcomes, and staff education within and across all clinical surgical patient care areas.
