TITLE: Genetic Counselor III - Advocate Medical Group

Position Requirements:
MS degree in Genetic Counseling from accredited program.
One year experience in similar setting. Strong communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Basic familiarity with computerized programs commonly used in Genetics.
Board certified by the ABGC.
Licensure in Illinois. Ability to provide own transportation to regularly scheduled off~campus clinics and occasional lectures.
Attendance at occasional evening or weekend lectures or programs required.


If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case~by~case basis.

Purpose:
To provide genetic counseling services to patients and their families, educate care providers, residents and medical students about clinical genetics and its utility in patient care, and work across specialties to assist with integration of genetics and genomics into patient care.

Accountabilities:
Coordinate and provide genetic counseling in one or more specialty areas of Genetics (prenatal, pediatric, cancer, adult, and general) to positively impact clinical outcomes
Provide education to physicians, allied health professionals, and the community.
Expand knowledge base of self and group.
