Position: Equipment Processing/Distribution & Patient Transport Tech.

Location: Christ Medical Center; Oak Lawn, IL.
Full Time, Night Shift

  • 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM
  • PP (Pay Period) Week 1 - OFF Monday & Saturday
  • PP (Pay Period) Week 2 - OFF Sunday & Thursday
  • Holiday Rotation #3

 

Purpose:
To sanitize, stage, maintain, process and distribute patient equipment and pharmacy. Safely transport patients from the ED to their assigned room, transport patients to and from testing and procedural areas, and transport to the main lobby for discharge.

 

Position Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 6 month related work experience (patient transport in a healthcare setting highly preferred)
  • 6 month computer background with CRT or Data Entry
  • Demonstrated knowledge of PC
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to anticipate patient, employee and department needs and refer for action
  • CPR certified within 6 months of hire
  • Position may be exposed to contagious diseases, bio~hazardous material and hazardous chemicals
  • Ability to carry, bend, reach, stoop, push supply carts with equipment, patient supplies, and specimens, to and from their destinations.
  • Ability to lift very heavy weight requirements according to DOL definitions.
  • Ability to asses working condition of equipment
  • Incumbent in position must conduct themselves in a courteous and professional manner at all times
  • Ability to work weekends
  • This position will need to recognize needs and behaviors of a variety of age groups of patients treated, i.e. understand child growth and development normal patterns of adolescent behavior and look for signs of normal aging prior experience with various age groups is preferred


If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case~by~case basis.

Accountabilities:

  • Provide safe, efficient patient transports
  • Distribution of equipment, carts, and other commodities to and from assigned areas
  • Provision of basic patient care for in~house patients
  • Participation in self development by attending inservices and educational programs appropriate to the needs of the department.
