The Director of the Pharmacy is responsible for the overall operation of the Department in accordance with the policies of the Medical Center. This leader is responsible for the delivery of professional Pharmacy services in compliance with all local, state and federal regulations and/or guidelines.
The Director represents the Department, Christ Hospital and Medical Center, and Advocate Health Care at meetings, program development/implementation, and strategic initiatives.



  • Doctor of Pharmacy Degree and Masters degree required.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience as a Director of Pharmacy at a moderate sized hospital.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Good understanding of the clinical and operations environment of a hospital pharmacy.
  • Current Illinois Registered Pharmacist License. This position requires the ability to be available as needed.
  • There is a potential of exposure to toxic drugs and disease states.
  • The position requires the ability to work in a standing position, and being in constant motion.
  • The position requires the ability to act quickly in response to STAT or Emergency situations.

  2. Responsible for managing the Department in compliance with all legal requirements:
  3. Responsible for the provision of Pharmaceutical Care in a professional and effective manner.
  4. Represents the Department/Christ Hospital and Medical Center/Advocate Health Care at administrative, institutional, corporate, and community meetings, program development/implementation, and strategic initiatives.
  5. Responsible for maintaining an effective staff based on the needs of the Department.
  6. Responsible for the maintenance of a sound financial program.
  7. Responsible for the Institution's Outpatient Pharmacy.
  8. Keeps abreast of Pharmaceutical Developments through literature review, peer interactions, and organizational meetings. Evaluates these developments for their potential benefit and implementation into the Department. Provides proactive consultative services to the Institution.
