Coordinator Food & Nutrition – Food & Nutrition Service department - #104255

  • Day/PM shift: 11:30a – 830p during the weekday & 530a – 230p on the weekends. This position does work holidays
  • Full time (40 hours per week)


JOB SUMMARY: The Coordinator Food & Nutrition will direct, supervise, and coordinate hospital food and nutrition activities (patient services, retail and production) by serving as administrative personnel in the absence of all administrative personnel. You will evaluate and facilitate resolution of administrative issues based on established hospital policies and procedures. You will also assure that effective food and nutrition services are provided and quality standards are met.



  • Supervise food and nutrition hospital wide activities to ensure overall provision of quality patient and customer care are consistent with Advocate Mission and Philosophy and policies and procedures.
  • Maintain ongoing operations of the hospital during absence of administrative personnel. Rounds to monitor and assure the appropriateness of care and staff performance is in alignment with advocate's customer service philosophy. Addresses personnel issues in order to promote a productive and health work environment and forwards concerns to Clinical Nurse Manager.
  • Coordinates resource management. Coordinates information and assures effective communications between hospital departments. Monitors operations and procedures, and facilitates processes that result in the continuous improvement of the overall hospital productivity and effectiveness. Serves as a leader on teams to improve and enhance performance of self, staff and patients.
  • Contributes and supports programs designed for continued improvement of operations and enhancement of the work environment.
  • Finance oversight.
  • Ensures implementation of patient safety behavioral and procedural expectations.
  • Ensures timely reporting of patient safety events and 'near misses.”
  • Promotes culture of safety through open communication, freedom from intimidation, and team work.



  • Associate degree in food service hospitality or related field
  • 3 years food service related experience
  • 1 years of supervisory experience preferable in a food service environment
  • Ability to proficiently speak, read and write English as related to essential job activities. Articulate in communication.
  • Strong organizational, motivational problem solving and supervisory skills.
  • Proficient knowledge of computer applications and systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage, motivate and develop staff.
  • Illinois Department of Public Health Food Service Sanitation Manager certificate or obtain in first 90 days
  • Able to work flexible hours which includes holidays, nights and weekends.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistant. For lifts greater than 35 pounds, lifting equipment is expected to be used or lift with at least one other associate when available.
