Position Requirements:
Associate's Degree

or

Equivalent combination of information systems and clerical experience and 1~ 2 years previous computer experience required with a variety of programs and databases.


Knowledge of medical terminology
Good communication skills
Proficient computer skills
Proficient keyboarding skills
CPR Certification within first month after hire date

Ability to successfully complete hospital~based training for Clerical Associate and CareConnection/CPOE
Ability to rotate shifts to provide coverage
Willing to be called off, based on unit demands
Exposure to various contagious disease, radiation, chemicals, caustic materials, electrical equipment and hazards associated with their use.
This position will need to recognize needs and behaviors of a variety of age groups of patients treated, i.e. understand child growth and development, normal patterns of adolescent behavior and look for signs of normal aging. Prior experience with various age groups is preferred.

If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case~by~case basis.

Purpose:
The Clinical Information Management Specialist (CIMS) serves to facilitate unit operations through accurate oversight and effective management of the patients' medical records (electronic and non~electronic), coordination of services, supplies and the appropriate ordering of tests and procedures.

Performs activities related to the utilization, maintenance and support of the clinical electronic medical record (CareConnection/CPOE). Provides education and trouble~shooting support to professional clinical users (i.e., physicians, nurses and other clinical and ancillary support members of the healthcare team) to promote efficiency and excellence in the delivery of quality patient care. Recommends plans of action, revisions to policies and procedures and works with all members of the patient care team to optimize the utilization of all aspects of the medical record. Delivers timely and high quality resolution of issues presented by fellow team members. Escalates issues and requests for information to appropriate parties. Serves as healthcare representative for the team when in direct contact with patients, families and other external contacts.

Accountabilities:
Ensures accurate and effective management of the patients' electronic medical records, to promote coordination of patient care and optimal coordination of plan of care. Educates and assists end users in the proper usage of the electronic medical record.
Ensures all non~electronic portions of the medical record are maintained appropriately.
Maintains appropriate reports, supply lists and forms to improve operational effectiveness and promote clinical excellence.
Establishes and maintains positive customer relations and contribute to a harmonious work environment.
Responsible for performance development and growth of job skills within the changing health care environment.
