The Assistant Clinical Manager works to support and ensure clinical patient care leadership for open-heart surgical populations by providing clinical leadership to plan, coordinate and manage associates and resources to provide the highest quality patient care with trained, professional and competent staff in the most cost-effective manner.  Collaborates with physicians and other health care disciplines to assure optimal patient care.  Performs direct patient care for heart transplant, Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) and heart failure patients with a high degree of skill and knowledge.


  • Assist PCC leadership with day to day operation to ensure high quality and cost-effective patient care
  • Practices the principles of Quality Improvement to contribute to positive patient outcomes  
  • Participates with PCC leadership to provide positive work environment for staff in terms of growth and development and job satisfaction  
  • Responsible for personal/professional growth and development 



  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • 3 years’ experience in specialty area
  • Licensed Professional Registered Nurse
  • CPR
  • Skills specific to unit’s specialty: open-heart recovery, transplant, ECMO & LVAD
  • Ability to assume charge/schedule coordinator role
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work cohesively with a diverse work group
  • Ability to work flexibly within stressful, changing conditions and difficult situations.
  • Ability to make sound and timely decisions in a fast-paced environment with established time constraints.



  • VAD Trained: Completion of 8-hr Ventricular Assist Devise (VAD).
  • Continuing Education: Focus on advanced heart failure therapies - Complete every 6 months: (Includes 1 VAD specific CBTs through Advocate / VAD Industry. Attendance at an Advanced Heart Failure Symposium / VAD Symposium may substitute for 1 CBT).
