Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or related field.
  • 10 years of experience in systems engineering
  • 5 years of management experience in in implementing large and complex networks, enterprise platforms, enterprise project management, and service oriented design and architecture, as well as supervision of infrastructure engineers.
  • Strong business and financial acumen is required, along with strong leadership qualities.
  • Broad and advanced understanding of information technology and processes in a large, complex, mission critical environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with a proven ability to work effectively with all levels.
  • Strategic thinker able to understand the business direction and goals and their potential implications in terms of the information systems and infrastructure required.
  • Tenacity and attention to detail in developing the associated functional requirements, risk assessments, cost estimates and plans, and tracking the delivery of approved projects.
  • Highly motivated self-starter capable of identifying and addressing key opportunities and issues.
  • An effective team player, capable of playing both leadership and supportive roles.
  • Ability to recognizes that the information technology portfolio is a compromise of business needs, together with an assessment of both business and technical risks vs both the short-term and long-term funding available and the skills and capabilities of the information systems organization.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills, with the ability to use logic and reasoning and understanding of implications as it relates to problem solving and decision-making.
  • Ability to conceptualize and think creatively and build consensus among individuals.
  • Position may require travel which may result in exposure to road and weather hazards.


Purpose:
Provides strategic direction and management of Advocate Aurora Heatlh IT Technology Services business, which includes computer platforms (servers, data management and networks), computer middleware, storage devices, networks (data), infrastructure management, and information engineering. Provides the foundation of which all solutions are built on and offers a comprehensive set of services including, requirements definition, design, vendor product selection and integration, Level IV support, strategic planning, roadmap definition, process documentation and training materials.

Accountabilities:

  1. Develops and evolves a strategic plan responsive to the changing competitive, technological customer and industry environments for the technology engineering business within the context of a broader IT strategy and Advocate Aurora Health's overall business strategy. Establishes a vision of global infrastructure architecture that guides the design of all current and future projects
  2. Manages the Technology Services business within Advocate Aurora Health offering an innovative product portfolio and provides day~to~day operational leadership of business outcomes that anticipate future technical opportunities, demands and requirements. Ensures professional excellence in computer science, project management and delivery, and customer relations by managing costs and offering the best value.
