Position Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Health Information Management or equivalent
  • Four or more years related experience in coding
  • Two or more years of supervisory experience
    Ability to interpret documents such as, but not limited to encounter forms, medical records, physician documentation, lab reports, dictated reports, operating instructions, and policy/procedure manuals
  • Knowledge of medical and insurance reimbursement, ICD 9, and CPT coding, disease processes, and medical terminology
  • Ability to interview people to obtain basic information
  • Ability to write correspondence proficiently. Ability to interact with all levels of health care team professionally
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several abstract and concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Ability to work independently. Ability to meet deadlines and goals
  • Effective and professional communications skills
  • Ability to handle high volume and multiple tasks
  • Previous auditing/chart reviews experience
  • RHIT, CCS, or CCS-P Proficient in PC skills including Microsoft Word and, Excel
  • Ability to drive or commute to various sites for meetings
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and initiatives within a specified timeframe
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner and effectively handles difficult situations and/or individuals objectively
  • Ability to communicate coding and other technical issues clearly and effectively with healthcare professionals and support staff

    The Manager is responsible for the development, maintenance, and oversight of Medicare Risk Adjustment coding and physician educational activities. Responsible for providing leadership and professional expertise to the auditing team to ensure the daily operational goals are met or exceeded. Develops and implements medical record review efforts to be in alignment with organizational goals. Develops and implements the chart review strategy and ensures that data analysis is used effectively in identifying targeted reviews. Responsible for responding to the needs of external and internal customers and the needs of staff. Responsible for ongoing process improvement and quality assurance activities for risk adjustable coding related functions.

    The Manager of MRA Coding promotes consistency and accuracy of AMG coding and documentation practices, and ensures that clinical services ordered and performed are properly documented according to medical necessity and governmental regulations.

  • Responsible for: Development, implementation and management of chart and claims review processes.
  • Responsible for: Development of coding educational plans, materials, and resources to educate physicians and associates with respect to the overall objectives of the AMG MRA coding program.
  • Responsible for personnel management of Medicare Risk Adjustment Staff ~ Authority to act within organizational policies and procedures, per assignment by director.
  • Responsible for integrating risk adjustment programs with internal stakeholders
  • Authority to act within organizational policies and procedures, per assignment by director.
  • Responsible for remaining abreast of current MRA coding knowledge, trends and/or developments in physician practice/medical group/healthcare coding for maintaining compliance with government regulations and reimbursement.
