Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or other related clinical field,
  • R.N. licensure in the State of IL
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or other related clinical field, or computer science plus
  • 3 years clinical experience plus
  • 3 years clinical information system or related experience
  • Broad based knowledge and competency in both hardware and software applications and systems in clinical department and/or integrated delivery system environment.
  • Strong presentation skills are required.
  • Epic certification preferred. If not certified upon hire, employee will be sent to training in the application(s) for which they are hired.
  • Certification must be obtained within 90 days of completion of the last class. Three attempts will be allowed to attain certification.
  • Some travel between sites is a requirement of the job, as well as out~of~town travel as required.
  • Flexibility with scheduling, including off shifts and weekends is required during heavy project load/implementation cycles
  • On call support as needed during implementations.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills


Purpose:
The Principal Trainer for acute inpatient hospitals is responsible for the design, development and maintenance of EHR training materials for all clinical applications, under the direction of the Manager of Education and Training.

As needed, may participate in development of specific clinical revenue cycle educational.

The Principal Trainer supports assigned applications and is responsible for providing expertise and in~depth understanding of all clinical based software, policies, procedures, and workflow.

Accountable for the build and maintenance of the training environment for assigned application(s).

This position requires and in depth understanding of clinical workflow and practice, collaboration with application analysts, builders and end users to construct training plans to promote standard end user workflows across Advocate.

Responsibility over development and implementation of credentialed training programs.

Accountabilities:
Translates functionality of clinical applications specific EHR system configuration and workflow validations into training development and curriculum.

Responsibility for planning, designing, executing and evaluating instructional design for all EHR specific clinical applications.
Develops and implements credentialed training programs and materials to support users of EHR clinical application(s)
Develops builds, tests and maintains the master training environment for primary application(s) supported.
Build professional skills by maintaining awareness of health care environment, pharmacy information systems technology, evidence~based practice, adult learning theory, leadership and informatics industry trends and AHC standards.
