Days as needed. 

To assess, plan, coordinate, negotiate and manage the care of patients with complex wound care and ostomy needs in collaboration with an interdisciplinary staff to facilitate the achievement of desired outcomes of treatment across the continuum of care. To assist in ensuring that quality patient care is provided utilizing appropriate resources. To facilitate the development, implementation and evaluation of standards of practice. To foster an understanding of wound management by health care clinicians. To consult with staff internal and external to the organization for the purpose of clinical management, education, technological development, and research as opportunities arise.

To provide direct and indirect patient care for patients undergoing ostomy surgery to meet the emotional and physical needs of the patient and to facilitate rehabilitation.

To provide direct and indirect care to patients both at risk for and those with alteration of skin integrity.

The Wound Care/Ostomy RN has responsibility for the provision of quality nursing care on the inpatient medical/surgical and critical care units. He/she is responsible to foster the Advocate philosophy through the following seven key result areas.


Position Requirements:
Bachelors degree preferred, ADN with Wound Care Certification.
3~4 years clinical experience as an RN in wound care.
Good priority setting ability.
Basic computer skills

Departmental management skills.
Effective interpersonal communication skills.
Current RN license in Illinois
Board Certification (CWOCN in wound care)
Flexible hours according to customer needs.
Ability to demonstrate a commitment to patient~focused care.
Ability to prioritize independently and respond to multiple simultaneous request.
Ability to work in a fast~paced environment with established time constraints and in difficult situations.
May be exposed to hazardous materials and life~threatening diseases.
Ability to perform lifting/transfer activities related to patients (up to 50 lbs. may be required).
Ability to transport objects from one location to another.
Assumes responsibility for own professional growth and development by participating in professional organizations, attending educational seminars and staying abreast of current literature.

This position needs to recognize needs and behaviors of specific age groups of patients treated.
