Position Requirements:
 

  • Degree in nursing at the baccalaureate level or higher. If baccalaureate degree is not in nursing, the masters or doctoral degree must be in nursing
  • 6-10 years' progressive leadership experience in health care.
  • Financial management and analytical skills

  • Team building skills
  • Some knowledge of managed care and health care reimbursement
  • Resiliency and flexibility to deal with a rapidly changing environment
  • Flexible hours for board meetings, hospital functions, etc.
  • Ability to travel periodically to other sites within Advocate or out of town destinations
  • Ability to wok flexible hours in order to accommodate early morning and evening meetings
  • Ability to manage difficult customer interactions on an ongoing basis
  • Ability to handle clinical ethical dilemmas and assist staff in resolution
     

Purpose:

To provide administrative oversight and direction, and manage the strategic planning, marketing, operational activities and administrative function clinical operations. These departments include Women's and Children, Critical Care, ED, Medical Surgical Units, Perioperative Services and Surgical Services, Staff Development, and, Access and Operations, Responsible for nursing care and performance delivered within Clinical Informatics, Patient Utilization, and other clinical areas with nursing. Ensures that all areas operate within the established policies, procedures, and strategic objectives of Condell Medical Center. Position has matrix responsibilities to ensure high clinical care/oversight for health related outcomes.

The VP Patient and Clinical Operations also serves as the Chief Nurse Executive for the medical center.

Accountabilities:
 

  • Responsible for organizing, planning, and directing clinical and others including facilities and hospitality services in accordance with the Advocate and Condell strategic and tactical plans, missions, and values
  • Assures the efficient and effective utilization of human, material, and fiscal resources for all areas of responsibility, maintaining overall responsibility of resource management in a cost-effective manner
  • Development and ongoing maintenance of collaborative relationship with vice presidents, department managers, physicians, systemwide contacts, and related external contacts in order to meet strategic objectives
  • Acts as the Chief Nurse Executive maintains oversight for nursing and is responsible for the direction of nursing, operations, nursing strategies, and nursing vision
  • Oversees clinical outcome and care management strategies
  • Responsible for professional and personal growth and development
