The Support Services Improvement Manager is responsible for the regional performance of each functional team. Support Service functions include Supply Chain, Health Technology Management, Food & Nutrition Services, Facilities, Construction, Security, and Environmental Services. This position will use the trademarked internal benchmarking software “Scout” as well as other data from the business intelligence team to coach managers and directors on how to drive performance monitoring through strategy development, action planning, overall leadership development/coaching. This position is to demonstrate year-over-year improvement in a region in Cost, Safety, Patient Satisfaction, Customer Satisfaction, and Team Member Engagement as measured by Scout.



  • Masters in Healthcare Operations or MBA preferred, Bachelors acceptable with previous leadership and ten years experience.
  • Minimum five years experience in management, project management, operations improvement, operations, or consulting experience.
  • Knowledge of industry best practice lean, six sigma and critical problem-solving methodologies.
  • Experience in developing strategic plans for a function.
  • Experiencing coaching leaders or others to meet performance goals.
  • Strong communication skills and demonstrated experience presenting to an executive audience.
  • Track record of success in team building and staff development.
  • Knowledge and experience with change management.
  • Strong data analysis skills.


Core Responsibilities

  • Regional performance monitoring: through utilizing objective, normalized data from the business intelligence team, identify the opportunity areas in a region and developing plans to improve a region’s performance.


  • Rounding with site leaders: provide coaching and identify areas of opportunity for a function and support services as a whole.


  • Training and Development: Responsible for training all Support Service leaders in their region critical problem solving, basics in initiative implementation and Lean.


  • Functional Strategic Development: Collaborates with the senior leader of a function to develop an annual functional strategic plan. Facilitates meetings to develop and monitor performance to a functional strategy


  • Functional Initiatives: Develop, implement and drive function specific initiatives across the system


  • Functional Executive Support: Other duties as assigned by the senior leader of support services


  • Facilitate Local Support Services Operating Reviews: Facilitates and leads the support services operating reviews with the most senior operations leader at each site. This reviews the performance of Support Services at a local level and review the top opportunities and wins at each site. This role will also be the main point of contact with our local stakeholders to make sure Support Services as a whole is meeting the site’s needs.
