JOB SUMMARY:

The Pre Surgical Testing RN provides outbound phone calls (14 calls per day on average) to patients with scheduled surgical procedures. The purpose of the phone calls is to conduct a health history screening (over the phone), educate the patient and provide instructions to prepare for their upcoming surgery. This position does not involve direct patient care.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience/Certifications:

  • Associate Degree of Nursing or Bachelors of Science in Nursing (preferred) from accredited school of nursing
  • Non BSN nurses must start a BSN program within two years of hire date and complete within 5 years (tuition assistance available)
  • Current Illinois RN license
  • 1 year experience as a licensed RN preferably in Surgical Service area
  • BLS CPR (American Heart Association)
  • Interpersonal/Technical Skills:
  • Ability to respond quickly to patient needs and work at fast pace
  • Good computer skills
  • Adequate time management and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with patient care equipment
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and different shifts in order to accommodate staffing
  • Certain positions may need to take call
