Position: Hospitality Services Float / Support Services Float

Location: Condell Hospital; Libertyville, IL.

Full Time; AM/PM Shift

  • Working the hours of 11am-8:30pm; Mon-Fri, rotating weekends and holidays.


To provide a range of duties to support the hospitality services departments. To proide environmental services duties as well as aid in patient food tray preparation and provide a high quality dining experience to patients. To provide excellent customer service and behaviors of excellence to patients, families and other customers and members of the healthcare team.


Position Requirements:

  • High School education or equivalent experience.
  • 1 year of prior customer service experience.
  • Must be able to recognize behaviors of various age groups.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to anticipate patient, employee, and unit need and refer for appropriate action.
  • Knowledge of all departments and locations throughout the hospital campus.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English. Must have basic math skills.
  • Must be fexible, versitility, reliablility and a team player.
  • Utilize good judgement.
  • Use of communication tools ~ phones, computers. Use of oxpgen, proper body mechanics, universal precautions.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and work different shifts to accommodate staffing needs.
  • Ability to perform lifting/transfer activities related to patients. Safe body mechanics.
  • Ability to perform lifting (up to 75 pounds occasionally and/or in excess of 50 pounds frequently and/or in excess of 20 pounds constantly).
  • Ability to maneuver and operate equipment used by the department.
  • Routinely works with potentially infectious specimens and patients.
  • Work environment includes probability of exposure to adverse, hazardous or unpleasant conditions while caring for the sick.
  • Continuous walking throughout shift.
  • Pushing, pulling, stooping, bending, twisting.

If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case~by~case basis.


  • Completes assigned duties for Host/Hostess or EVS Tech 1 during assigned shift. See Host and EVS Tech 1 Job Descriptions for details.
  • Work assignments are documented with all the necessary information.
  • Patient information is kept confidential.
  • Practices safety and sanitation techniques that meet department standards and regulatory requirments.
  • Maintain flexibility to work in either Food or EVS department every shift
