Advocate Trinity Hospital has a rich and robust history, having served the health care needs of the communities, individuals and families in the southeast side of Chicago for more than 110 years, beginning in 1895 as South Chicago Hospital.   In 1995, Trinity Hospital, part of the Evangelical Health Systems (EHS) merged with Lutheran General Health System to become the present day Advocate Trinity Hospital which is a 193 licensed-bed facility with approximately 300 physicians representing 50 specialties.  This includes advanced heart attack care, expanded Cardiovascular Services, primary stroke care center, oncology/infusion center, Level II special care nursery and an array of surgical specialties not found in most community hospitals.  Trinity earned Joint Commission accreditation, received HealthGrades® recognition with five star ratings for pulmonary and stroke care; also highest rating for total hip replacement surgery and was awarded the Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development (SHSMDSM) Circle of Distinction Award.   Trinity's nearly 1,000 employees, make the hospital one of the area's largest employers.

 

South Suburban Hospital is a 260 bed hospital with a level 2+ nursery and 24 bed Emergency Room. We also have a 5 star skilled nursing facility on site and 2 Davinci Robots in our surgical services area.

Purpose:
The Vice President Operations provides leadership and direction for assigned product lines, departments, and hospital-wide initiatives at South Suburban Hospital and Trinity Hospital. Ensure that support departments and product lines achieve organizational objectives, customer satisfaction, and an increase in market share. Ensure the successful integration of services with other hospital departments and product lines. Create an environment for the delivery of quality care that is characterized by responsiveness, fiscal responsibility, and positive team member relations. 
 

Position Requirements:

  • Masters degree in Business Administration, Hospital Administration or a health care related field.
  • Minimum 10 years progressive leadership experience in a healthcare setting.
  • In-depth understanding of health care operations, regulatory code compliance, reimbursement methodology, and clinical excellence.
  • Strong strategic planning skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Skilled in budget preparation
  • Strong results orientation and ability to manage a wide variety of responsibilities,

 

Accountabilities:

  1. Provision of management philosophy, strategic direction, and leadership for assigned areas in conjunction with overall hospital philosophy and strategies.
  2. Direction and control over allocations of resources, including capital and expense budgets, FTE utilization, space, and time to effectively meet system, hospital, and division goals and objectives.
  3. Assurance that services provided by the assigned departments are appropriate, of high quality, integrated, and coordinated throughout the hospital.
  4. Responsible for contributing to effective decision-making on hospital-wide issues and policies, as assigned by chief executive, by participating effectively on committees and providing accurate and pertinent research analyses and technical input.
  5. Effectively plans for future operational health care services that contribute to the continued improvement of existing systems and facilities and that provides for continued high-quality patient care.
  6. Development and implementation of policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance with federal, state, and agency regulations and laws.
  7. In conjunction with, and/or on behalf of, the chief executive, acts as administrative liaison between department management, medical staff, and external contacts to promote positive working relations hips and to meet hospital objectives.
