Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required.
  • 3 years experience in an emergency registration environment or 3 years experience with regulatory agencies and regulations (IDPH, Medicare, Medicaid, Accrediting Organization, etc.) including experience in a leadership role such as leading projects, special events, training programs, etc.
  • Shift would be 4:00pm to 12:30am but also need to flexible depending on the needs of the department.
  • Ability to organize in a fast~paced environment with high level of empathy, tact and poise.
  • Ability to lead a large and diverse team.
  • Excellent human relation, organizational and project management skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, etc.)
  • 5+ years knowledge of general office equipment (computer equipment printer, optical imaging, photocopier, calculator, multi~line telephone, etc.)
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills
  • Must have experience having Critical Conversations with individuals at all levels.
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Proven track record of improving metrics.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  •  Candidate must have the ability to travel to various operating units an be willing to attend and present off~shift supervisory meetings and education activities, perform basic management and supervisory functions, participate in outside professional activities and maintain a high level of proficiency in using patient scheduling, registration and accounting software.
  • 24 hour / 7 day per week accountability
  • Promotes patient safety by reporting of issues through established channels and participating as requested in safety initiatives


Purpose:
Manages associate performance, daily departmental resource allocation Emergency Department registration areas and provide direct supervision of staff working in off~site and outpatient registration areas during the 1st 90 days of employment. Maintain excellent associate satisfaction and provide shift oversight on performance and quality assurance of patient registration processes.
Ensures that the functions of insurance verification, and financial clearance are performed according to established standards. Ensures compliance with all State and Federal regulations as well as internal hospital policies and procedures governing the patient access processes of the Patient Access Department.
Maintains the highest standards of customer services excellence to ensure that staff performs all duties according to established customer service standards and that processes are developed to address overall or specific customer needs.


Accountabilities:

  1. Organize, monitor and direct the daily activities of the Emergency Department registration staff to perform registration through accurate and complete data collection within established timeframes.
  2. Supervises associates performance, daily departmental resource allocation and work schedules to efficiently support operations within the Patient Access areas, while maintaining excellent associate satisfaction.
  3. Sponsors and directs quality assurance activities, training and educational goals as defined by site management and/or Advocate Health System, to ensure quality, consistency, and compliance are performed by patient access associates.
  4. Participates in process improvements and the development and implementation of revenue cycle work plans for finance division and Patient Access Department.
  5. Maintains effective communication and working relationships between the Patient Access Department, physician offices, nursing, ancillary hospital departments, patients, third party payers, Patient Accounts, HIM, Advocate Health Centers, Christ PHO and Information Systems.
