Position Requirements:
~High School Graduate or equivalent (GED)
~Graduate of approved Surgical Technician program.
~One year experience including all surgical specialties preferred.
~Clinically appropriate skills.
~Ability to cooperate and work well with internal/external customers.
~Meets Advocate behavioral expectations.
~Certified Surgical Technician preferred.
~Certified in basic life support.
~Ability to work under stressful conditions and in difficult situations.
~May be exposed to hazardous materials and life~threatening diseases.
~Ability to tolerate prolonged standing and walking.
~Ability to transport patients from one location to another.
~Ability to preform lifting/transfer activities related to patients (up to 50lbs. may be required).
~Ability to participate in on~call duties including weekends and holidays.

If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case~by~case basis.

Under the direction of the professional registered nurse, assists in the care, preparation, and maintenance of sterile and unsterile supplies and equipment for the use during the surgical procedures.

Under the direct supervision of the registered nurse, functions as the scrub technician on surgical procedures of varying type and complexity.

Collaborates with the surgeons and other healthcare providers to ensure the highest possible standard of care.

Development of skills and professionalism through self~participation in educational offerings and/or hospital~based committees and continuing education
Demonstrates adherence to standards of Infection Control.
Ensures a safe and secure environment through interventions and routine observations.
Demonstrates ability to perform scrub duties as listed on the attached addendum.
Delivers patient care under the guidance of the registered nurse


Report patient safety events and near misses in timely fashion

Adhere to all behavioral and procedural patient safety practices

Promote culture of safety through identifying threats to patient safety and intervening to prevent patient harm

Communicate openly and promote team work

Report intimidating behavior and other threats to patient safety promptly
