Position Requirements:
High school graduate or G.E.D. with successful completion of an Echocardiography and/or Cardiovascular curriculum or equivalent (Associates Degree equivalence)
Five plus (5+) years experience in performing all modalities of echocardiograms including stress echo and transesophageal with preferred Pediatric experience. Possess basic knowledge to perform routine echo modalities: M~mode, 2D, Doppler, and Color Flow. Familiarity with one or more types and models of echo ultrasound instrumentation. Knowledge of cardiac anatomy and ability to detect acute EKG arrhythmias and abnormalities. Minimal typing, computer, and clerical skills. Eligible to take certification for ARDMS or RCVT exams. Excellent communication skills. Ability to think independently and handle emergent situations.
Ability to tolerate prolonged lifting, standing, walking and bending, as well as ability to hold the probe stationary for an extended period with good mobility of the hand, wrist and arm is needed in order to recognize and produce a diagnostic echo.
Ability to endure long periods of time viewing small CRTs during patient examination.
Promotes an understanding of age specific needs in the explanation and performance expectations of the test/procedure prior experience with various age groups is preferred. Prefer a specialized pediatric echo tech for ages 0~16 testing as well as adult echo techs for ages 17 ~ 70+.
This position can recognize needs and behaviors of all age groups (may be delineated by specialty tech for pediatrics and adult). Evidence of this can be shown by recognizing levels of development and modifying approach and exhibiting communication skills necessary to interpret age specific responses.

If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case~by~case basis.

To perform diagnostic echocardiography (cardiac ultrasound) as ordered by physicians. Testing includes M~mode, Two Dimensional, Doppler, Color Flow, Transesophageal, and Stress Echoes.

Performs all echo testing including M~mode, two dimensional, doppler, color flow, transesophageal, stress echo, and pericardiocentesis monitoring
