Position Requirements:
High School diploma or GED
2~3 years experience in healthcare clerical position
Knowledge of medical terminology

Basic PC skills
Good communication skills.
Ability to cooperate and work with internal and external customers.
Meets Advocate behavioral expectations.
Ability to work under stressful conditions and in difficult situations.
Ability to meet flexible work hours.
Demands which requires prolonged standing, walking, lifting and bending throughout the day.
May be exposed to hazardous materials and life threatening diseases.

If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case~by~case basis.

To assist in organizing incoming patient information and ensuring that necessary data is present in the chart prior to the day of surgery in the Pre~admission testing area. Through active collection of data, this position assists in minimizing delays and avoiding cancellations of scheduled surgical procedures.

Responsible for tracking down missing information and contacting information sources to obtain necessary pre~operative testing results and data. Works in collaboration with the Pre~Admission Testing RNs, Physicians and their office staff, Day Surgery, Remote testing facilities, Registration personnel, OR Manager, OR Director and works autonomously in maintaining established work flow.

Manages charts of all surgical patients to ensure completeness of information as early as possible prior to procedure date.
Communicates effectively with a wide variety of customers

Collaborates with Pre~admission and Surgery staff in developing and implementing process improvement efforts

Report patient safety events and near misses in timely fashion

Report intimidating behavior and other threats to patient safety promptly
