Position Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent.
1~2 years institutional food service preparation. Basic computer skills required.
Ability to identify and follow verbal and/or written instructions.
Ability to communicate and work cohesively with diverse groups.
Mathematical aptitude for extending recipes and production levels
Ability to complete all required training and competencies, including age specific competencies, HIPAA training, etc.

Eligible to become certified in Food Service Sanitation. Ability to communicate in English in order to understand verbal instructions, ask questions, and take directions whether on the phone or in person.
Must stand or walk for long periods of time. Employees who work this position spend 100 percent of the time on their feet.
May be exposed to a variety of disagreeable conditions and stressful situations.
Frequently lifts up to 35 pounds. Pushes and pulls carts weighing up to 125 lbs.
Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, lifting, climbing, and kneeling.
Subject to slips and falls from wet floors. Exposure to hazardous chemicals, sharp objects, extreme temperatures in freezers, walk~in refrigerators, grills, steamers, and ovens. Susceptible to burns, cuts, and scalds from food production procedures.
Must be willing and capable of working in a fast paced environment.

If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case~by~case basis.

Purpose:
Provides high quality dining experience to patients while meeting nutritional requirements and service expectations. Responsible for preparation of all food items following standardized recipes. Serves as liaison between patients and Nutritional Services through daily patient visits and coordination of patient nutritional needs. Assists patients with menu selections, when appropriate.


Accountabilities:
Prepares, assembles, and delivers patient meals. Assembles patient meal trays per diet order.
Demonstrates efficient and safe use of equipment. Promotes safe work practices at all times
Participates in self development by attending mandatory inservices and educational programs appropriate to the goals and needs of the department. Assists in enhancing productivity and efficiency of department.
Practices effective communication skills and maintains good customer relations.
