Position Requirements:
Graduate from an accredited school of respiratory. Good communication.

Ability to access, plan, and intervene and evaluate the physical, emotional, and educational needs of the patient. Current RRT Certificate from NBRC.
CPR Certification
State License ~ RCP
NRP within one year of employment. Ability to work weekends, holidays, and different shift is order to accommodate staffing needs.

Ability to move and transport patients.

May be exposed to hazardous substances and life~threatening diseases.

Ability to work under stressful conditions and in difficult situations.

If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case~by~case basis.

Responsible for the respiratory care of patients in accordance with physician orders, and other health care personnel, recognizing respiratory techniques and procedures, and established national and departmental standards and policies.

Education of patients and their families.
Participation in inservice and continuing education programs and/or workshops in order to learn and refresh any new procedures or methods developed in the health care field.
Provides educational inservices and leadership to new and existing employees.
Performance of quality control problem solving and maintenance procedures as required by CAP, OSHA, CLIA, department, and hospital guidelines.
Administer medication and therapeutic measures prescribed by physicians.
Documentation and communication of care, medication, and observations made during care of patient in order to track responsiveness and health of patient.
Assessment of patient's respiratory needs through information provided by physicians, observation, nursing services, and other health care workers to develop respiratory treatment plan.

General Scope and Work Environment: The Respiratory Care Department provides respiratory care therapies and diagnostic testing 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. The scope of the services provided includes in~house capabilities for managing respiratory ill patients. The procedural services include, but are not limited to CPR, endotracheal intubation assist, mechanical ventilation, invasive arterial blood gas sampling and analysis, pulmonary function testing, administration of nebulized medications, oxygen therapy delivery, overnight pulse oximetry trending, chest physical therapy, incentive spirometry, BiPAP, CPAP and auto~titrating CPAP.

Clinical Competency: All new certified respiratory care practitioners, as well as agency personnel, are provided with orientation appropriate to their level of experience. The level of experience is determined by skill inventory list and assessment made by supervisor and managers.

PALS is recommended within two years of employment. CPR certification is required biannually. Successful completion of Neonatal Resuscitation Program is required within one year and every two years thereafter, annual Blood Gas Analysis Competency is required, Age Specific Competency is required annually.
