Sherman Hospital, a Magnet recognized hospital located in Elgin, Ill., is a 255-bed facility that features private patient rooms, a 15-acre geothermal lake, an advanced Emergency Department,  a free-standing Cancer Care Center, a spacious Family Birthing Center, a Heart & Vascular Center and more. Sherman also provides convenient, quality healthcare services at Sherman outpatient centers in Algonquin, Elgin, and South Elgin.

The Clinical Resource Unit (CRU) is a highly specialized team of Registered Nurses and Patient Care Technicians, previously referred to as Float Pool, that have multiple competencies and are oriented to multiple units within Sherman Hospital.

What you will do:


  • The RN in the Clinical Resource Unit  assumes primary responsibility for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care for assigned patients
  • Plans and sets goals which demonstrates a holistic approach to patients and families. Assumes leadership responsibilities at the unit level. Demonstrates a mastery of clinical skills




  • Develops and maintains a therapeutic relationship throughout the healthcare continuum

What you will need:

  • Associate Degree of Nursing or Bachelors of Science in Nursing (preferred) from accredited school of nursing
  • Non BSN nurses must start a BSN program within two years of hire date and complete within 5 years (tuition assistance available)
  • Current Illinois License
  • Approaching 1 year of experience as a licensed RN on an Medical, Surgical, or Telemetry unit
  • Current CPR Certification
  • Proficient communication skills both verbally and written
  • Ability to respond to patients in a timely manner and access all areas of the unit
  • Good time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and different shifts in order to accommodate staffing
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance
