Sherman also provides convenient, quality healthcare services at Sherman outpatient centers in Algonquin, Elgin, and South Elgin.

Cardiac Rehab RN

  • Registry - Work on an As needed basis
  • No weekends
  • No holidays
  • Flexibility to work 4, 8, and 12 hours shifts
  • Must be able to read EKGs

This is a unique opportunity to work as a Registered Nurse in Cardiac Rehab and Non Invasive Cardiology (cross trained in both departments)

Cardiac Rehabilitation:

An essential part of Advocate Sherman Hospital's cardiovascular services, our cardiac rehabilitation program helps the cardiac patient and family receive physical, emotional and social support in returning to a normal lifestyle.

Cardiac rehabilitation consists of individually prescribed exercises and education designed to return the patient to optimal health. This exercise program is established through your physician, while the physical assessment and counseling are done with the cardiac rehabilitation team. Emphasis is placed on what the patient can do to prevent and reduce the recurrence of heart disease.

Non-invasive Cardiology:

Advocate Sherman Hospital's Heart & Vascular Center offers a full range of non-invasive cardiology tests that assist in determining your heart function.

Cardiac stress testing: This test is used to determine the state of circulation in your heart. It can be done several different ways, which can include walking on a treadmill or receiving medication to stress your heart. It may involve an ultrasound or nuclear imaging to take pictures of your heart before and after stress.

  • Shift: Registry (As needed). 8 hour shift between 6:00am-6:00pm weekdays with Saturday rotation (8am-1:00pm). Both departments are closed on Holidays

 

What you will need:

Education/Experience/Certifications:

  • Associate Degree of Nursing or Bachelors of Science in Nursing (preferred) from accredited school of nursing
  • Non BSN nurses must start a BSN program within two years of hire date and complete within 5 years (tuition assistance available)
  • Current Illinois RN license
  • BLS and ACLS required
  • Minimum 1 year experience as a licensed RN in Telemetry, ICU, or higher acuity Cardiac services unit.
  • Must be able to read and interpret EKG

 

Interpersonal/Technical Skills:

  • Ability to respond quickly to patient needs and work at fast pace
  • Good computer skills
  • Adequate time management and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with patient care equipment
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and different shifts in order to accommodate staffing
  • Certain positions may need to take call
