Sherman Hospital, a Magnet recognized hospital located in Elgin, Ill., is a 255-bed facility that features private patient rooms, a 15-acre geothermal lake, an advanced Emergency Department,  a free-standing Cancer Care Center, a spacious Family Birthing Center, a Heart & Vascular Center and more. Sherman also provides convenient, quality healthcare services at Sherman outpatient centers in Algonquin, Elgin, and South Elgin.

To provide administrative and clinical leadership to plan, coordinate and manage personnel and resources in order to provide the highest quality patient care with trained, professional, and competent staff in the most cost~effective manner. Monitors the performance of Respiratory Care Practitioners in their delivery of patient care services on all shifts and coordinates the delivery of respiratory services across the organization. Monitors the appropriate utilization of services, supplies and equipment. Assesses the competency level of Respiratory Care Practitioners, assures the availability of appropriately credentialed staff for specialty care areas and procedures.


Position Requirements:

  • Graduate of an AMA accredited educational program with a Associates degree in Respiratory Care Practice.
  • 2 years supervisory / charge experience
  • 4 years clinical experience in critical care, neonatal, pediatrics and trauma.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

  • Results oriented with concern for appropriate and appreciative process Licensed by the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or registry eligible with RRT within 6 months of hire.
  • Ability to travel locally as well as long distance travel as needed
  • Ability to work within stressful conditions and difficult situations
  • Ability to work, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays as needed to engage with team members on those shifts

  • The Supervisor, Respiratory Care Services needs to recognize the needs and behaviors of a variety of age groups of patients treated.
  • Prior experience with various age groups is preferred.


  • Planning, management, implementation and evaluation of operations/services to ensure quality, efficiency and cost effectiveness.
  • Preparation and administration of budgets to ensure adequate personnel, Facilities, and supplies.
  • Responsible for the selection, development, motivation and evaluation of staff.
  • Maintenance of effective working relationships with internal and external contacts.
  • Responsible for personal and professional growth and development.
