Sherman Hospital, a Magnet recognized hospital located in Elgin, Ill., is a 255-bed facility that features private patient rooms, a 15-acre geothermal lake, an advanced Emergency Department,  a free-standing Cancer Care Center, a spacious Family Birthing Center, a Heart & Vascular Center and more. Sherman also provides convenient, quality healthcare services at Sherman outpatient centers in Algonquin, Elgin, and South Elgin.

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

 

Position Requirements:
High School education or G.E.D., and at least 6 months prior work experience
(preferably clerical office experience)
Successful completion of a medical terminology course preferred
Data entry skills
Good organizational skills
Good analytical skills with attention to detail
Works well in a team environment
Can manage multiple priorities, problem solve and make decisions

Must be flexible to rotate weekends, holidays, shift and days in order to accommodate staffing needs.

Requires associate to walk a moderate/significant distance throughout hospital facility to retrieve records. May require the ability to push/pull a records cart.
May need to lift boxes containing paper records.

Purpose:
To provide a range of work tasks required to retrieve, scan and index patient documentation timely, while meeting quality standards into the electronic patient record. Navigates all computer application and Electronic Health Records (EHR) to perform job duties to support patient care, care management initiatives, revenue cycle, regulatory requirements and meaningful use. Safeguards confidential and privileged patient information.

Accountabilities:
Retrieves, investigates and reconciles for missing records, sorts and prepares records from multiple internal and external sources for scanning into the electronic health record.
Performance of other duties not inclusive.
