Position Requirements:
Registered professional nurse with a BSN or other health education degree.
3 to 5 years current nursing experience
3 years clinical Critical Care or Emergency Department experience
Basic computer skills, word process, self start, good organizational skills.
Self directed individual who has demonstrated the ability to work unsupervised.
Effective communication skills
Ability to prioritize work
Ability to develop good relationships among the hospitals in the Trauma Region
Utilization of critical thinking skills
Illinois, Licensed Registered Professional Nurse.
CPR certification
TNS certification
This position can recognize needs and behaviors of the following age groups: pediatric (newborn, toddler, school age), adolescent, adult, and older adult.
Evidence of this can be shown by recognizing levels of development and modifying approach and exhibiting communication skills necessary to interpret age specific responses.

This position needs to recognize needs and behaviors of specific age groups of patients served by the Trauma Service.

If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case~by~case basis.

The Trauma Coordinator promotes and facilitates optimal trauma care, in the context of a regionalized Trauma System, through clinical, administrative, professional, educational and quality improvements activities. The Trauma Coordinator will maintain the Trauma and Violence Registry and adhere to the reporting schedule. The Trauma Coordinator collaborates with the Trauma Medical Director to ensure Sherman Hospital complies with the standards set forth by the State regulations and guidelines, with regard to Level II Trauma Services. The Trauma Coordinator will participate in education and injury prevention activities for the community.

Plan, coordinates, participates and evaluates activities of the Trauma Service at Sherman Hospital.
Promotes and facilitates excellence in trauma care within Advocate Health Care and Sherman Hospital.
Promotes injury prevention for the patient population Sherman Hospital primary and secondary service areas, based upon trauma population trends.
Facilitate communication and serves as a liaison amongst pre~hospital providers and other trauma services within Advocate health care and at the local, region and state level
