Position Requirements: 

  • MBA, MHA or other advanced degree preferred,
  • 6 years Hospital experience
  • 6 years Managerial experience with multiple department management
  • Strategic planning experience
  • Clinical experience is preferred
  • Program development and implementation
  • Good communication skills
  • Adequate human relations skills
  • Well organized with able to prioritize work  and handle a wide variety of responsibilities
  • Strong leadership
  •  Results oriented,

 

Purpose: 
The Vice President of Operations and Service Lines is responsible for the growth, strategic positioning, and influence of the site of care in its market place in a manner consistent with Advocate Aurora's vision and strategy.

 

Major accountabilities of the position include:
 

  1. Strategic leadership and operational management oversight of the site's designated clinical programs and service lines with key success metrics being service line specific health outcomes, patient, physician and team member engagement, operating income and revenue share growth
  2. Provide leadership and direction for assigned departments, and hospital wide initiatives at Good Samaritan. Ensure that departments achieve organizational objectives, customer satisfaction, and an increase in market share. These departments include direct reporting relationships with Cardiovascular Services, Neurosciences Program, Imaging Services, Oncology, Ambulatory Services, Behavioral Health, Inpatient/Outpatient Rehabilitation Services, Transport, Volunteers, Communication, and Good Samaritan Health/Wellness Center. Also provides matrix leadership for Pharmacy, Lab, HIT and support services (EVS, Food/Nut, Construction, Facilities, Clinical Engineering, Public Safety).

 

 Accountabilities:

  • Provision of management philosophy, strategic direction, and leadership for assigned areas in conjunction with overall hospital philosophy and strategies.
  • Direction and control over allocations of resources, including capital and expense budgets, FTE utilization, space, and time to effectively meet system, hospital, and division goals and objectives.
  • Ensures the patient services provided by the assigned departments are appropriate, of high quality, integrated, and coordinated throughout the hospital.
  • Responsible for contributing to effective decision-making on hospital wide issues and policies, as assigned by chief executive, by participating effectively on committees and providing accurate and pertinent data and decisions. 
  • Effectively plans for future operational health care services that contribute to the continued improvement of existing systems and facilities and that provides for continued high-quality patient care.
