Position Requirements:

  • Master's Degree in Business, Finance, or related field.
  • 10 years of experience in Healthcare Business Development.
  • Ability to collaborate toward specific deal and external focus on sourcing deals.
  • Excellent technical knowledge.
  • Proven skills in developing and leading multi functional teams to achieve strategic initiatives that drive financial impact and growth.
  • Knowledge of health care economics inclusive of healthcare delivery and technologies, business intelligence, product development, payer systems and product management.
  • Ability to successfully collaborate with executive-level stakeholders across industries.
  • Ability to lead complex system of inter-related activities, critical thinking skills, and skills in innovation and conceptualization of solutions.
  • Ability to negotiate business deals as well as operationalize strategic plans and business models.
  • Ability to effectively lead high-performing teams and achieving financial performance of initiatives.
  • Highly organized self-starter with the ability to set priorities and work independently in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to prioritize projects to meet unforeseen deadlines and deliverables.

Purpose:
Responsible for identifying and executing new growth opportunities for Advocate Aurora Health. Serves as integral part of department's efforts to implement growth strategies with the focus on accretive financial performance and on transactions that acquire capabilities needed to implement strategy. Works closely with SVP of Business Development and the SVP of Mergers and Acquisitions on transactions that acquire capabilities needed to implement strategy. Engages and sources externally for opportunities, manages deals within an AAH queue, and collaborates with other functional enterprise teams. Externally focused. Identifies new sources of revenue and develops key external relationships to advance new business opportunities.

Accountabilities:

  1. Advances new growth opportunities from identification through execution, assures alignment and advances AAH's strategic plan. Identifies new sources of growth for AAH.
  2. In collaboration with SVPs of Business Development and M and A, has functional responsibility for M and A. This includes M and A capabilities, external opportunity identification, RFP management process, high level business plan development and financial analysis, deal negotiations, oversight of the valuation process, and JV affiliations.
  3. Identifies and evaluates target organizations that fit strategic criteria and further key aspects of AAH's strategic plan. Negotiates strategic transactions on behalf of Advocate Aurora Health that support strategy.
  4. Manages a disciplined internal process within Advocate Aurora Health to ensure alignment and compliance, including coordination across Business Development, key Operating units and functional areas such as Legal, Compliance, Finance and Innovation.
