Title: Unit Information Coordinator

Location: Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital

Hours: .9, Full Time

Shift: PM/Night

 

Position Requirements:
High school graduate or equivalent
Completion of medical terminology course (or equivalent experience)
1 ~ 2 yrs. previous experience as a secretary in a hospital, physician's office or a nursing home

Competent computer knowledge and skills
Familiarity with faxing, copy machines, and multi~line phone systems
Good communication and customer relation skills.
Good organization and math skills


Ability to demonstrate manual dexterity for extended periods of time.
Ability to lift and assist with the movement of equipment
Ability to adapt to changes in work assignments and environment
Possible exposure to infectious waste and disease.
Ability and willingness to work on all shifts, weekends, and holidays, in all patient care areas
Able to work at a pace sufficient to complete assigned workload daily
Possible strain due to continuous repetitive tasks
Ability to access all areas of the unit
Ability to perform heavy lifting up to 100 pounds occasionally and/or in excess of 50 pounds frequently and/or in excess of 20 pounds constantly.
Possess strong critical thinking, analytical and organization skills.
Possess strong detail and result oriented skills.

 

If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case~by~case basis.

Purpose:
Provide non~clinical support for patient care units by managing information to facilitate coordination and efficient delivery of patient care. To function as the main contact for equipment and supply issues in the Critical Care Pavilion. Collaborate with Materials Management and CCU Associates to ensure supplies are available and appropriately stocked at all times.

Accountabilities:
Health Outcomes: Ensure that the management of information is carried out in an efficient and accurate manner
Maintain and manage unit supplies in a cost effective manner
Patient Satisfaction: Provide a positive hospital experience for patients, families and visitors.
Finance: Assist in cost containment activities.
Physician Partnership: Provide a positive hospital experience for physicians and physician extenders.
Associate Satisfaction: Promote a smooth workflow between nursing unit and the multidisciplinary team.
