Position: Public Safety Specialist

Location: Will be required to utilize personal vehicle to travel to sites across the South Chicagoland region and will be reimbursed for work-related travel.

  • This position covers non-acute areas--meaning AMG sites and other clinics (not hospitals).

Full Time Temporary; Day shift

  • This is a temp to perm position, should both parties agree it's the right fit after a 6 month trial period.

 

The South Chicagoland Non-Acute Public Safety team is excited to announce a new innovative recruiting and staffing strategy for the open Public Safety Specialist position. While traditional roles are assigned on a permanent basis, this position is now being offered as a 6-month appointment.

 

The Public Safety Specialist role is an excellent opportunity for Public Safety team members looking to advance their career and develop into a future leader. As a Public Safety Specialist, they will be tasked with providing professional consultation and service while improving the overall security posture at dozens of clinics throughout the South Chicagoland PSA. The purpose of this role is to implements security and public safety policies, procedures, and operations to protect people, information, and property in assigned areas of responsibility. Provides high quality security program services to effectively mitigate risk through security awareness training, vulnerability assessments, and operational and physical controls.

Basic Job Responsibilities:

The Public Safety Specialist duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct Physical Security Risk Assessments at each location
  • Complete Threat Assessments on potential high-risk patients/visitors
  • Conduct regular auditing/testing of security devices at clinics
  • Provide basic training and education on security related topics
  • Conduct and assist with basic investigations
  • Provide post-incident follow up/consultation
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance of security equipment

 

Public Safety Specialist Criteria:

  • Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice, or Associate's Degree in Security or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in in physical security experience which includes performing risk assessments, developing, interpreting, and communicating physical security and safety policy, training or advising internal customers in security and safety, conducting program planning and evaluation in the security and safety field.
  • Knowledge and skills acquired by obtaining the Certified Protection Professional (CPP) and/or Physical Security Professional (PSP) issues by American Society of Industrial Security (ASIS).
  • Ability to work on video platforms such as MS Teams and/or Zoom and/or Skype
  • Must not be involved in any form of corrective action currently or within the past year
  • Must be willing to utilize their personal vehicle daily (will be reimbursed for appropriate travel)
  • Must have a demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and be reliable
  • Must demonstrate excellent security knowledge and training skills (Run, Hide, Fight, de-escalation, etc.)
  • Should have advanced experience/skills utilizing technology (access control, CCTV, Microsoft Office, etc.)
  • Should have demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects or tasks
  • Should have experience in conducting various types of investigations
  • Should have experience in conducting security risk assessments or displays the ability to learn how to
  • Should have experience in obtaining, reading and deciphering various types of intelligence (open source)
  • Proficiency Microsoft Office or similar (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PowerPoint and database software.
  • Excellent knowledge of security systems, including video surveillance, access control, security alarms, and infant/child protection systems.
  • Driver license issued by the state of Illinois, or Driver license issued by the state of Wisconsin.
    • This position requires travel, therefore, will be exposed to weather and road conditions.
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
  • Exposed to a normal office environment.
  • On call 24 hours a day, seven days a week. May carry a pager.
  • Ability to work under stressful situations
  • Ability to communicate clearly, and investigate situations.
  • Self~directed, possess critical thinking and analytic skills.
  • Ability to climb, walk, run and stand for long periods of time.
