TITLE: Patient Service Rep - Pharmacy

LOCATION: Downers Grove, IL

SHIFT: Office is open from 8am - 6 pm Monday - Friday.

Status: Full-time 1.0 

 

JOB and UNIT SUMMARY:

The purpose of this position is to help achieve the vision of Advocate Home Health Services by performing the duties of this position in a cost effective, results oriented and customer focused manner. This position is a critical component of the Pharmacy team and as such meeting individual performance expectations and contribution to team performance goals is required.

The incumbent coordinates the distribution of medical supplies to patient homes and assists patients with managing optimum levels of supply inventory in their home. The incumbent also functions as a patient advocate by insuring patients have sufficient amounts of supplies necessary to conduct treatments, and that supplies provided are authorized by insurance companies and ordered by physicians. To do so, the incumbent works closely with pharmacists, nurses and reimbursement staff to coordinate internal distribution activities, convey patient developments to clinical staff, and relay customer concerns or needs to appropriate staff for resolution. 


Accountabilities:

  • Insures patients maintain optimum levels of correct medical supplies and equipment in their homes to insure continuity of care.
  • Monitors managed care service authorizations to insure products provided are properly authorized and reimbursed.
  • Obtains authorization extensions from payers or informs internal case managers that authorization extensions are required.
  • Insures basic patient demographic and status data records are up to date in computer system.
  • Completes patient order shipment confirmations, and modifications for item changes occurring after initial order ticket printing to begin revenue recognition and billing processes.
    Monitor billing hold reports, coordinates billing document procurement and transmittal to insure timely claims submission.

     

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma
  • 2~3 years work serving the public in some customer service capacity
  • Data Entry ability 
  • Strong Organization Skills
  • Strong Detail Orientation
  • Exceptional Verbal Skills
  • Telephonic Customer Skills
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case~by~case basis.
