Position Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited AOTA approved Occupational Therapy program.
  • 1 year outpatient hand therapy experience to cover outpatient health and Wellness Center hours
  • Successful completion of six months Level II fieldwork pending AOTA certification.
  • Meets the annual stroke education requirement of 8 hours/year, (for therapists working with adult stroke population) through in~services, journal club, grand rounds, self~study and other continuing education opportunities.
  • Completion of fieldwork/program requirements.
  • AOTA Registration pending.
  • CPR certification
  • This position involves: bending, lifting, assisting patients to and from wheelchair, bed toilet which often requires physical strength, endurance and use of proper body mechanics. Set up of certain equipment requires upper body strength to tighten knobs, etc. Lift weights, push/pull. Physical stamina during emergency situations may be required and often can not be delegated. Perform CPR. Work weekends, minimum of two/month, holidays and some evenings. Have access to transportation. Potential exposure to blood/body fluids.
  • This requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 08/01/2014. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case~by~case basis.

The Occupational Therapy (OTR) Registry staff will be reviewed according to the accountabilities and job activities of Staff OTR.

Perform evaluations and develop and coordinate the treatment planning process.
Implementation of Department goals
Assumes other related responsibilities as assigned
Aid in coordinating the fieldwork experience
Prepares, maintains and transmits accurate patient records including evaluation, progress, and discharge notes as well as productivity, attendance, charges, and services rendered.
Participation in Educational/Professional Development Activities
Communicate information/observations to appropriate personnel.

~8 hours of stroke education/year
This position will need to recognize needs and behaviors of a variety of age groups of patients treated i.e. understand child growth and development, normal patterns of adolescent behavior and look for signs of normal aging prior experience with various age groups is preferred.
