Position Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in psychology or related field.
Demonstrated proficiency for the requirements of Level I
2yrs or more of additional related hospital experience
1 year psychiatric experience.

This position will need to recognize the needs and behaviors of a variety of age groups. The incumbent will need to be familiar with normal growth and development issues, normal patterns of behavior and signs of the normal aging process for the designated patient group they are working with. Prior experience with various age groups is preferred Therapeutic communication skills for individuals and groups.
Proficient use of patient care equipment and computer
CPR per hospital policy
CPI within 6months, then every two years.
Therapeutic communication skills, both oral and written.
Ability to work closely and harmoniously with a number of individuals on the nursing team.
High tolerance for emotionally or physically stressful situations.
Ability to anticipate patient and unit needs and implement proper therapeutic measures.
Resiliency and flexibility to deal with a changing environment.
Demonstrated problem solving ability.
Ability to work under stressful conditions and in difficult situations.
May be exposed to hazardous materials and life threatening diseases. Knowledge of standard precautions is a must.
Works within and supports a shared governance model.
Is customer service focused.
May at times come in contact with violent patients, therefore knowledge of techniques to manage violent patients is a must. May be involved in restraining patients.
Ability to flex hours in order to meet patient care needs.
Ability to handle crisis situations.
Ability to work weekends, holidays, and different shifts in order to accommodate staffing
Certain positions may need to take call
Ability to transport objects, patients, and equipment
Ability to respond quickly to patient needs and work at fast pace
Work environment includes probability of exposure to adverse, hazardous, or unpleasant conditions while caring for the sick
Ability to assist in evacuation of patients in the event of a fire or other disaster
Routinely works with potentially infectious specimens and patients
Ability to respond to patients in a timely manner and access all areas of the unit

If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case~by~case basis.

To function as a member of the multidisciplinary treatment team under the supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN). To assist in planning, providing, and documenting high quality patient care to a variety of psychiatric patients, and supervise Mental Health Counselor (MHC) Level I's and Patient Care Assistant (PCA) in the behavioral health unit.

Administers or assists patients with physical care.
Facilitates therapeutic group activities
Assists in the development and maintenance of a therapeutic milieu and provides for a safe environment for all patients.
Serves as a member of the multidisciplinary treatment team by providing information regarding patient's behavior and responses to interventions.
Utilizes therapeutic communication techniques during patient assessment and intervention, including admissions and discharges.
Actively participate in inservices and continuous education programs as required, and orients new MHC'S and PCA'
