Position Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree required
  • 5 years' experience in coordinating community or corporate training programs, along with demonstrated success in Workforce Development, Human Resources, public or private entities, schools and/or churches
  • 1 year leadership experience
  • Demonstrated experience in overseeing operations of community and/or corporate training programs for frontline team members.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experienced in program design and development for disadvantaged populations in workforce related training, including the capacity to navigate community resources.
  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented
  • Ability work independently, problem solve and make well-informed make decisions.
  • High level of proficiency and literacy in using the Microsoft Office Suite, similar products and other technology solutions.
  • Ability to work effectively in diverse communities and work groups
  • Geographically and politically familiar with Chicago and Cook County
  • This position requires travel, therefore, will be exposed to weather and road conditions

The Manager Workforce Development primarily provides oversight of the Advocate Workforce Initiative (AWI) funded by a grant. The program is aimed at increasing the pipeline of prepared candidates for low and middle skilled roles. The Manager Workforce Development will implement strategies and oversee operations, and is the secondary externally facing point of contact between Advocate system and site leadership, granting/funding agencies, community based organizations and school partners to ensure the visibility, effectiveness and alignment of programs and activities. This role will also provide limited oversight of the Illinois~based internship programs and administration of the EdAssist (tuition assistance) Illinois policy.


  1. Ensures effective operations of all AWI program components and activities, including Advocate resources required to support orientation, participant interviews and internship opportunities
  2. Leverages the strategies and approach to AWI to build relationships with external organizations to create a strong pipeline of candidates for sites and positions outside of the scope of the grant.
  3. Oversees the planning, organizing and coordinating activities related to clinical rotations, internships, and job shadowing including post program interview/placement coordination at site(s) of care.
  4. Builds and maintains strong, productive relationships with key constituencies within Advocate Aurora Health to play an active role in connecting job seekers to training opportunities aligned with current roles within the Advocate system
  5. Manages the statistical analysis and data management for the AWI program. This includes managing aggregate data and outputs/outcomes by assigned partners who are AWI grant recipients.
  6. Oversees with system leadership, the implementation of the Advocate Aurora Health Internship program in Illinois, including college and HS programs.
  7. As an alternate, represents Advocate in certain groups, committees or associations related to workforce development initiatives
